There is something about the atmosphere of NewcastleGateshead’s revamped Quayside
which strikes a chord deep down. Is it the satisfaction of looking at vibrant new architecture? Because if it is then the Gateshead Millennium Bridge
never disappoints and to stand in the midst of its elegant curves and still be able to enjoy the views of six other historic bridges is a real treat.
Is it to do with the celebration of art? The airy galleries of the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art
just seem to allow works of art to be shown off to best advantage. And there is nothing better than sitting in the peace and quiet of the more traditional Laing Art Gallery
and enjoying the richness of colour in a Pre-Raphaelite painting.
Perhaps it’s to do with the feeling that you are more than welcome to take an active part in our region’s “things to do and see”. No need to just look at the live glass-blowing demonstration at Sunderland’s National Glass Centre
. Try your hand at it…but don’t drop it!
And who needs encouragement to let the fantastic shopping experiences at Gateshead Metrocentre
and Newcastle’s Eldon Square
become part of them…see you there!.
